Missing Woman Found Dead Near Home in West Alabama

A West Alabama woman who has reportedly been missing since last month was discovered dead near her home Monday, officials confirmed to the Thread.

As Townsquare Media first reported last week, 68-year-old Karen Lanzas was last seen on March 15th near her home in Pickensville, Alabama.

Andy Hamlin, the district attorney in Pickens County, said Tuesday that Lanzas' body was found Monday not far from her residence on Hillview Lane in Pickensville.

Hamlin said the discovery has sparked an active death investigation and that he has ordered an autopsy to determine Lanzas' cause of death.
