Mary Janssen "Jan" Sisty Caldwell, age 74, passed away peacefully on January 11, 2023 at Hospice of West Alabama.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Magnolia Chapel South, Saturday, February 4, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. and entombment to follow at Memory Hill Gardens Mausoleum at 1:00 p.m.

Jan was born in New York on August 15,1948 to Jack and Martha Bonner Sisty. While she was still a toddler, the family moved to Aliceville, Alabama. Jan
attended public school and graduated Salutatorian from Aliceville High School's class of 1966. She attended Alabama College (now University of Montevallo) where she met her future husband, Tuskin Jefferson Caldwell III, or "Tu" as Jan called him. They were married September 1, 1967.

Jan and Tu moved to Auburn where Jan received a degree in Pharmacology. The couple moved to Little Rock, Arkansas where she was a pharmacist for the VA Hospital. After several years they returned to Alabama where Jan was employed by the Tuscaloosa VA Hospital until her retirement.

Jan was an active member of St. Matthias Episcopal Church in Tuscaloosa and a Member of the Disciples of the King organization. After her husband's death in 2016, Jan returned to Aliceville, Alabama.

Jan loved music, and some of her happiest times were spent as the only female singer of the Slo-Gin 60s Review, a popular rock and roll band that played throughout the Southeast.

Jan was preceded in death by her parents and husband. She is survived by her two brothers, John Ross Sisty and Theodore Bonner Sisty (Paula); her niece, Emory Sisty Barnes (Anthony); her three nephews, Theodore Bonner Sisty (Paige), Ross Sisty, and Jake Sisty; and her great-nephews, Jack Barnes and Theo Sisty, and great-niece, Mae Sisty.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be sent to Hospice of West Alabama
