Bessie Threadgill Bridges (August 29th, 1924 – January 12th, 2023)

Bessie Threadgill Bridges, age 98, of Northport, Alabama passed away Thursday morning, January 12, 2023, at Northport Medical Center.

Visitation will be 11:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, January 17, 2023, at Magnolia Chapel North. Graveside services will follow at 1:00 p.m. at Williamson Cemetery in Northport, Alabama with Bro. Jerry Croft and Jon Townsend officiating.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Eugene “Teg” and Bessie Threadgill of Mobile County; and brothers, Eugene, Jr. and Ollie M. Threadgill of Mobile County.

Survivors include her daughters, Gay Hudson (Rickey) of Fleetwood, Ala. and Jan Rushing (Wayne) of Northport, Ala.; sons, Charles Jr. “Bubba” (Diane) of Gordo, Ala. and Joe Bridges of Northport, Ala.; grandchildren, Jenn Townsend (Jon) and Chris Hood (Ashley) and numerous grandchildren by marriage; great-grandchildren, Eleigh Kaye, Emma Bess, Jon Teg and Justus Townsend, Cooper and Adilynn Hood and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren by marriage.

Bessie retired in 1989 from the VA Medical Center in Tuscaloosa after 36 years in the Medical Administration Service. She loved visiting with family, friends, and neighbors. Her favorite hobbies were working in her yard and buying more plants and flowers.

Pallbearers will be Jerry Threadgill, Ricky Threadgill, Gene Threadgill, Gerald Causey, Curtis Gaskins, and Randall McCombs.
