Marsha Jean Stough, 68 of Akron, Alabama, passed away June 9, 2023 at home.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, June 14, 2023 at 1:00 pm at Mt. Hebron Cemetery in Akron.

Marsha graduated from Hale County High School in 1972. She went on to make a career at the William D. Partlow Developmental Center in 1974, retiring after 35+ years of service to the State of Alabama.

She was a longtime member of Moundville Baptist Church where she served as a Sunday school teacher to many children and to her Sunday school ladies group. The Lord led her to be a nursery worker where she found joy raising and teaching the littles up in knowing the Lord also.

Marsha was married to Jan Lake of Moundville after coming full circle in life to meet again after many years. They wed on May 13, 2021 and lived at "Trails End" in Akron, Alabama.

Marsha is preceded in death by her parents, Robert "Slick" Wiggins and Marjorie Thompson Wiggins; great grandmother, "Z" Thompson of Akron; and her only Son-In-Law, Marty Wheat.

She is survived by her husband, Jan Lake; daughter, Donna "DeDe" Wheat; two grand daughters, Presleigh Wheat and Nicole Wheat. She lived for her grands, following them in whatever activities and sports they were apart of. She enjoyed keeping busy and watching them grow. She is also survived by her brother, Tony A. Wiggins (Barbara); sisters, Sandra Porter (John), Susann Lawley (Verbie), and Sara Beth "Gigi" Oliver (Denny); her stepson, Thomas Lake (Scottie) and step daughter, Leanne Richardson and their children.

Marsha loved pickling, canning and making candy trays for her family and friends of the neighborhood. She loved you all and know now that you meant alot to her.

"For I know the plans I have for you", declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a future. ~ Jeremiah 29:11

Marsha's plans and the end may have been shorter than she liked but we rejoice in knowing that she is in the presence of the Lord thy God and we will see her again.
