A Tuscaloosa man has been charged with shooting the father of his sister's children at McKenzie Court apartments last Monday, according to court documents filed Wednesday.

Anthony Rayshawn Freeman, 27, allegedly shot a single round from a 9mm handgun and hit the victim in the knee while the two were in the parking lot of the complex on October 19th.

The victim was taken to DCH where he was treated for injuries that police said were not life-threatening.

Freeman turned himself into Tuscaloosa Police officers Tuesday and told investigators he was aiming at the victim's knee when he shot the handgun, not trying to kill him.

He was charged with one count of second-degree assault and booked in the Tuscaloosa County Jail. He has since been released on a $15,000 bond.
