Kay Francis Deavours, age 89, of Northport, Ala., died on the 16th of July 2023 at her home in Northport.

Visitation will be held 4-6 p.m. on Wednesday, 19th of July at Magnolia Chapel North. Graveside services will be at Flatwoods Cemetery in Nauvoo, Ala. at 11 a.m. on Thursday, 20th of July.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Novella Francis; son, Jeff Deavours; and the father of her children, Ted Deavours.

She is survived by her daughters, Dianne Welch and Allison Sweigard (Kenny Hooten); son, Scott Deavours (Tanya); fourteen grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, nieces and nephews, a host of close friends, and a special furry friend, Dandy.

Pallbearers will be Scott Deavours, Nation Sweigard, Mathew Cory, Kenny Hooten, and Blake Deavours.

Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Anand Pandey, Dr. Mustafa Ahmed, Dr. Hussein Abu Daya, and Amedisys Hospice, especially Hunter and Laura.

Kay was born on November 24, 1933 in Nauvoo, Ala., attended Fayette County High School, and went on to graduate from Tuscaloosa High School in 1950. She married Ted Deavours in 1950 and together they had four children. Kay worked at and retired from B.F. Goodrich and loved traveling the country visiting union shows. Kay was a devoted mother, grandmother, and friend to all. In her later years, she enjoyed spending time with all of her "grands," dancing the night away on the weekend with friends, and she especially loved her "drifts through the thrift."
