Tide 100.9's on-site coverage of the 2022 SEC Media Days is brought to you by Academy Sports and Cardiology Consultants.

Entering into day two of SEC Media Days, Ryan Fowler, host of The Game, talks with Alabama defensive back Jordan Battle about the offseason, the upcoming football season and other topics surrounding football and the Alabama Crimson Tide.

Battle started off by talking about the offseason, how the team is trying to mimic the approaches of past Alabama teams, and how last season disappointment is fueling the team this offseason.

Battle stated that the team is "trying to create a brotherhood like the past, the history of Alabama... trying to get back to the old tactics. We start the script for the season, getting the defense and the offense ready in seven-on-seven, competing every day, making sure everybody is on the right task... we're under that one big goal which is to get a national championship, so that's just the main focus right now in the locker room."

Coming off of a year where the Crimson Tide defense allowed a little over 20 points per game, Battle has high hopes for the 2022 Alabama defense and thinks they can be one of the best defenses in the nation if everyone can do their jobs.

"I feel like every year when you have an Alabama team, the first thing you look at is their defense and that's the history of Alabama, the defense. So that's the main thing, trying to be a good defense, trying to make the run stops, make the pass stops, not to be one-dimensional but to be all around on defense" Battle said.

Continuing along the lines of the offseason, Battle spoke on defensive coordinator Pete Golding and how helpful he and the other position coaches have been to the players.

Battle said to Ryan "he's [Golding] a very cool guy on and off the field when you go to him for anything, he knows the playbook in and out, so if you need any help, Pete Golding's the guy to go to, as well as the position coaches because the position coaches know everything as well. I feel like T-Rob [Travaris Robinson] if fitting right in with us, and Coach Kelly is my guy, recruited me from Tennessee."

Battle also gave his opinion on Name, Image, and Likeness in college football and why he thinks its good for college football.

"I just love the NIL perspective of things, helping players benefit from what they do on the field, so I'm all in with that and I love the fact that they brought that upon college athletes who deserve it."

Everyone says that teams play their best game against Alabama, which is something that Battle and the team our aware of and they embrace it in their preparation each week for a team.

"That's the thing about coming to Alabama, you know you're going to get every team's best, so week in week out we have to be prepared for what's coming, we know that team wants to beat us just as much as we want to beat them. We got to come out and we got to play, because if we don't play we can get beat at anytime."

Battle also told Fowler why he decided to come back to Alabama for his senior season instead of trying to go pro.

Battle stated that "the number one reason why was to get that national championship back of course, but also my mom wanted me to get a degree, so I want to do that as well, to get a degree in communications."

Last season, Battle had 85 total tackles and three interceptions, two of which were pick sixes. Battle is expected to be one of many leaders on a more experienced Crimson Tide defense.
