Joe Ed Brown, age 87, of Northport, AL, passed away Sunday, August 7, 2022, at his home in Northport.

A private family service will be held.

Joe Ed was born on November 3, 1934, to Edward Floyd Brown and Winnie Bell Darden Brown, the oldest of three sons.

He married Nina Sue Hagler on April 1, 1955. Joe Ed loved his family and was very proud of his four sons and all his grandchildren and great-grandchildren (who called him “Shorty Pawpaw”).

He was a millwright at Gulf States Paper Co. and retired as a mechanic at BF Goodrich. He was a lifetime member and trustee for many years of Macedonia United Methodist church.

He loved woodworking and gardening and was very skilled at both. He was very self-reliant, and he passed this trait on to his sons and grandchildren.

Joe Ed was preceded in death by his spouse Nina and his son Scotty Brown of Northport. He was survived by his sons Mickey Brown, Billy Brown (Valeria) and Tommy Brown (Evonne), all of Northport; grandchildren, Adam Brown (Jennifer), Abby Rushing (Brandon), Andrew Brown (Angelica), Derrick Brown, Amy White (Clay), Jake Brown, Bradley Brown, Brett Brown, Brian Brown (Karley); and great-grandchildren, Alexia, Ella, Camden, Tyce, Landyn, Logan, Lyla, Nora and Joe; brothers, Johnny Mack Brown of Texas and Terry Brown (Carol) of Northport.

The family would like to give special thanks to his caregivers, Kim Bigham, Paula Dukes, and Terri Kimbrough. He thought they were all very special ladies.
