One Tuscaloosa County resident was killed and another was injured in a collision in Lowndes County Thursday morning, according to Alabama State Troopers.

Reginal King, a spokesperson for the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency in West Alabama, said the fatality was Mikayla L. Ramsey, a 23-year-old woman from Coker.

Ramsey was driving a 2018 Nissan Sentra on Alabama Highway 21 in Lowndes County the sedan collided with a 2020 Freighlinter tractor-trailer, King said.

Ramsey was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident and her passenger, a 23-year-old Northport man, was hospitalized at Baptist Medical Center South in Montgomery.

The trucker, a 33-year-old from Millbrook, did not require hospitalization.

King said the wreck took place on 21 around 20 miles south of Hayneville in rural Lowndes County.

No further details were available Friday morning and Alabama State Troopers are continuing to investigate the deadly crash.
