James Floyd Skelton, age 57, of Buhl, Alabama, passed away August 6, 2022 at Emory University Hospital.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 11, 2022, at Magnolia Chapel North with Bro. Drew Heurion officiating. Burial will follow at Cornelius Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery in Buhl, Alabama with Magnolia Chapel North directing.

Visitation will be 3:00 p.m.-5:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 10, 2022, at Magnolia Chapel North.

He was preceded in death by his father, Leavy Skelton; grandfather, Norman Burroughs; and grandmother, Oriea Burroughs.

Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Renea Skelton; daughters, Casey Anders, and Hayley Oswalt (Kyle); sister, Dana Skelton; brother, Kenneth Skelton (Shira); mother, Farrah Skelton; and grandson, Brody Anders.

James was born on December 18, 1964 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama at Druid City Hospital. He attended Tuscaloosa County High School and graduated in 1984.

He then married the love of his life, Renea. They were happily married for 35 years.

James worked the majority of his life in roofing and construction. He always worked side by side with his brother, Kenneth Skelton, for the last 30 years.

James worked as director of operations at Deason, Inc. since 2013.

James was full of life. He loved his family and always wanted them to be together.

He also enjoyed gardening, woodworking, and watching his grandson, Brody, play baseball.

Pallbearers will be Greg Ritchie, Chris Ritchie, Phillip Booth, Kerry Rowe, Julius Pate, Josh Anders, Marty Oliver, and Jr. Maldonado.

Honorary pallbearers are Deason Inc., The University of Alabama, Harrison Construction, WAR Construction, Rabren General Contractors, Bailey Harris Construction, Emory University Hospital, and many family and friends from the Buhl community.
