One of the many positive things about the city of Tuscaloosa is that every holiday season you can count on the community to come together to help those in need.

On Monday, November 21. Joe Eatmon, along with state representatives and community partners held a Thanksgiving dinner at a McDonald's Hughes Center completely open to the public and completely free.

"We had all the greek organizations, most of the elected officials here in town, and most importantly we served over 350 people from the community," said Joe Eatmon as he spoke on the success of the event.

Community members were welcomed with soft music, and decorated tables, and they were served by elected officials, members of Greek letter organizations, and other volunteers.

The event was made possible by Senator Bobby Singleton, Representative Chris England, AJ McCampbell, Curtis Travis, Spades Restaurant, PARA, Townsquare Media, and Joe Eatmon.

"We had families sitting down dining together, we had neighbors sitting down dining together, and as elected officials and community leaders we had the opportunity to be able to serve them." -Joe Eatmon

In just one hour, the volunteers were able to serve 350 individuals in the community.

The menu consisted of a completely home-cooked meal sponsored by Spade's Restaurant.

Fried turkey, ham, dressing, mac and cheese, collard greens, candied yams, and desserts were part of the delicious menu provided to the public.

"It warms my heart to see people be able to come down and sit down and have a great meal. We fed 350 people in an hour, not many people can say they've ever done that."
