As we head into the Memorial Day weekend, take a moment to remember the true meaning of the holiday, honoring military service members who died while serving in the United States Armed Forces.

Also, in the south, many call this weekend the “unofficial” start to the summer season. Meteorological summer starts June 1, while the astronomical summer starts June 21.

“The weather won't change much. Very warm, very humid, highs in the 80s, and the daily round of scattered showers and thunderstorms,” said James Spann, Alabama Weather Network Chief Meteorologist.

Is there a chance of some rain every day through Memorial Day? Yes.

Will it rain all day on any given day? No.

Will it rain everywhere each day? No.

Spann hints at shower activity from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. Also, advises being ready for a possible “rain/lightning delay, especially during the afternoon and evening hours.”
