West Alabama County Primary Ballot Results
Statewide voter turnout in yesterday's political party primaries followed historic tradition and was low with only 23.11% of Alabama's register voters casting ballots.
Many longtime political obervers had worried prior to election day that confusion over congressional redistricting, the June 16th runoff and a called August 11th special election could push down and already regular low participation rate.
Voting officials from the Secretary of State down to the county level probate judges has been encouraging voters to come out and fill out their entire ballot regardless of the pending special election.
There were two statewide constitutional amendments and two counties ha countydie referendums on ballots. County officials worried that voters would ignore or miss those issues on the ballot. It looks as if those concerns were realized.
Across West Alabama's the turnout varied from a low19.4% in Tuscaloosa County to a high 50.71% in Greene County. The higher percentage counties were bolstered by Democrats who have been energized by the Republican Parties redistricting efforts which minorities consider as dienfranchisement.
Below are the election results from West Alabama counties as sent to the Alabama Attorney General's Office by the individual counties probate judge's office. To the right of the county results link are the voter turnout numbers.
