Ty Simpson Added to Maxwell Award Watch List
Alabama quarterback Ty Simpson continues to add to his accolades after a 24-21 victory over the Georgia Bulldogs, a game that earned him SEC Co-Offensive Player of the Week, Panini Senior Bowl Player of the Week, Mann Award Stars of the Week, Maxwell Player of the Week, and Davey O'Brien National Player of the Week.

Against Georgia, Alabama's signal-caller completed 24-38 passes for 276 yards and two touchdowns. He also rushed for 12 yards and a score on the ground.
His day against Georgia cemented Ty Simpson as one of the top quarterbacks in the nation, and it's earned him one more honor before we officially turn the page to Vanderbilt. Ty Simpson has been added to the Maxwell Award Watch List, awarded annually to the most outstanding player in college football.
Simpson is the second Crimson Tide player on the Maxwell Award Watch List, with sophomore wide receiver Ryan Williams making the initial list, released on July 28.
Ty Simpson has been nothing short of surgical for Alabama through the Crimson Tide's first four games of the season. He's completing 69.3% of his passes for 1,138 yards and 11 touchdowns, while adding 57 yards and two touchdowns on the ground.
The biggest stat for Ty Simpson, though, is a zero in the turnover category. He has just one fumble on the season in week one against Florida State, but it was picked up by Parker Brailsford, the Crimson Tide's center. Outside of that, Simpson has yet to put the ball in jeopardy for opposing defenses to capitalize on.
Simpson has led Alabama to a 3-1 record, and the loss to Florida State was his worst performance. Since the loss in Tallahassee, where Simpson said in the postgame that he would be better for this team, his stat line has been Heisman-worthy over the next three games:
65-84 (77.3% completion)
884 passing yards
9 passing touchdowns
40 rushing yards (3.3 yards per carry)
2 rushing touchdowns
There is still a lot of football left to be played, but Simpson is in the mix for several big accolades, and he should bring home some hardware if Alabama continues winning like it did against Georgia.
