Alabama Sees Former 5-Star Lineman Enter Transfer Portal
The Alabama Crimson Tide unfortunately missed out on the 2022 College Football Playoffs and therefore must prepare to close its season with a Sugar Bowl matchup with Kansas State. Additionally, the transfer portal officially opened on Monday with the regular season officially ending, meaning players must decide if they want to stay for bowl practice or look for greener pastures.
The Alabama Crimson Tide saw its fourth offensive lineman enter the transfer portal in redshirt freshman Tommy Brockermeyer, according to Matt Zenitz of On3 Sports.
Brockermeyer was a former 5-star prospect in the 2021 recruiting class. He, along with his twin brother, James, was part of one of the highest-rated offensive line recruiting classes along with JC Latham and Terrence Ferguson.
It remains to be seen if his twin will follow him into the transfer portal. His family has heavy ties to the University of Texas as his older brother and father played for the Longhorns.
He appeared in two games during his Alabama career, both in the 2022 season as a reserve. He was considered a top-10 player in the 2021 cycle.
Brockermeyer is the fourth offensive lineman to hit the transfer portal following Javion Cohen, Tanner Bowles and Damieon George. He makes for the 12th Crimson Tide player in the portal, the remaining eight are JoJo Earle, Jacoby Boykin, Traeshon Holden, Christian Leary, Khyree Jackson, Trey Sanders, Jack Martin, and Braylen Ingraham.
