The University of Alabama is the top party school in the Southeastern Conference, beating out the music scene at the University of Georgia and "The Grove" at Ole Miss. The rating is from Niche a popular search and review website that helps students and families to research the best-fit colleges, K-12 schools, and neighborhoods. The Tuscaloosa campus is also ranked sixth in the nation among the best party colleges based on student data about campus party culture.

Niche publishes a list of the best party schools in the US as part of its annual best colleges list. To the dismay of adminsitrators, UA is regularly listed in the top 10. Administrators have actively attempted to distance the Tuscaloosa campus from "top party school" rankings, because they fear it will overshadow the university's academic and research achievements while encouraging heavy drinking and partying.

Crimson Tide home football weekends are a key catalyst to UA's regular ranking as a party school due to a massive game-day tailgating culture and one of the largest Greek systems in the United States.

So what did Niche say about UA's #6 ranking?

"With 71 social Greek life chapters, the school has been one of the nation's largest fraternity and sorority communities in terms of active membership since 2021.

"Bama Rush," a 2023 documentary, took viewers inside the high-stakes world of sororities at the school, showing the fashion, culture, and shortcomings of Greek-life recruitment.

"I have loved the first few weeks that I have been part of the UA community," a university freshman wrote on Niche, adding that they'd "made connections with students from all over the country, and that has been an eye-opening experience for me."

The Facebook site by UA "Parents of Class of 2025 - Parenting Beynd the Nest" may have the best desciption of a party school and if Alabama is one of them. "Every school is a party school if you want to party and not a party school if you don’t."

A school's party scene can be a big draw for some incoming students but it is also can have an effect on student grades if control of partying is not addressed before a student leaves home for their freshman year.

If Alabama is sixth in the nation, what campus is the top party school in America and who is ranked ahead of UA?
