The Tigers scored two more runs in the second inning and held the Crimson Tide scoreless in the bottom of the second, giving Clemson a 3-1 lead into the third inning.

Alabama answered to the Tigers' two runs in the previous inning with sophomore shortstop Justin Lebron delivering an RBI single that sent Fowler home and trimmed Clemson's lead to one, 3-2, heading into the fourth inning.

Clemson responded strongly in the fourth inning, scoring two runs in the top of the inning while keeping the Crimson Tide empty-handed in the bottom of the inning, giving Clemson a 5-2 lead heading into the fifth.

Neither team scored again until the top of the sixth inning when the Tigers scored two runs on two strong RBIs, one of which was a double to left field by Clemson pinch hitter Collin Priest, who drove in the second run of the inning. The Tigers' defense performed effectively in the sixth inning, holding the Tide to zero runs.

Alabama finished the final inning of the game strong with the Tide not allowing the Tigers to score a single run in the 7th with the Tide's infield making a beautiful double play to end the Tigers' chances of bringing in any points for the inning, while the Tide was able to get a run on the board with a big RBI Single from Alabama's Redshirt Junior Cade Snell, which wasn't enough for the late comeback with the Tide falling in their first exhibition game of the day 8-3 to the Clemson Tigers.
