A Tuscaloosa man has been arrested and charged with murder in connection with the death of a 67-year-old man found in his apartment at Brookhaven Apartments on Saturday, according to the Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit.

Anthony Markeith Jones, 47, was taken into custody and committed to the Tuscaloosa County Jail without bond under Aniah's Law. Jones is charged with murder and illegally possessing a firearm.

As the Thread previously reported, Marshall Holifield, 67, was found deceased in his apartment at Brookhaven Apartments on James I Harrison Jr. Parkway on Saturday, July 18, after a friend came to check on him.

The Tuscaloosa Police Department's Major Crimes Unit assisted with crime scene processing, and Kennedy said the arrest came after an extensive investigation.
