Inez Chappell Shirley, 92, passed away on Sunday, January 23, 2022, at her home in Northport, Alabama. She was born February 8, 1929, to Jesse C. and Ernestine H. Chappell in Tuscaloosa County, Alabama.

Inez was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years Wyman M. “Buster” Shirley, her parents, four brothers, three sisters, and one son-in-law.

She is survived by her daughters Pam Shuttlesworth, Teresa (Wayne) Black, Camille (Dennis) Crim; Son, Mallory (Rose) Shirley; Grandchildren Jeremy Shuttlesworth, Jami (Jason) Compton, Johnny (Anna) Shuttlesworth, Kevin (Joy) Black, Josh (Sarah) Black, William (Olesia) Crim, Kelli (Josh) Hardin, Daniel Crim, Karen (Garrett) Davidson, Wesley Shirley; Seventeen Great-Grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

Inez was a loving, caring Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother. She was affectionately called “MeeMaw” by her family members, as well as their friends. She loved working crossword puzzles, music and singing, playing dominoes, and most of all being with her family.

She was a member of Five Points Baptist Church for almost 60 years and was involved in many activities there over the years including directing the children’s choir, teaching Sunday School, singing in the choir, directing the Vacation Bible School music program, and she loved traveling with the Senior Adult group.

She was a part of the Sunday School Ministry at Forest Manor Nursing Home for 30 years. She worked many years in Retail, as well as other positions.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 27, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. at Five Points Baptist Church in Northport, Alabama.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Sunset Funeral Home in Northport, Alabama. Pallbearers will be Jeremy Shuttlesworth, Johnny Shuttlesworth, Kevin Black, Josh Black, William Crim, Daniel Crim, Wesley Shirley, and Garrett Davidson.

Honorary pallbearers are Members of Five Points Baptist Church, Esther Hope Sunday School Class, Employees of Home Accents, Dr. Sakina Kamal, nurses and staff, Dr. Craig Buettner, nurses and staff, Employees of Amedisys Home Health Care, and Caring Missions.

Memorial donations may be made to Samaritan’s Purse or Gideons International.
