After high school, he took a job at Russellton Coal Mine, where he started his lifelong career in the coal mining industry, which eventually led him to Tuscaloosa in 1977, where he accepted a job at North River Mining in Berry.

On April 4, 1980, he married the love of his life, whom he called “Gracie”. They were blessed with five children with whom he loved and adored, along with eleven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

After retirement, God revealed his true calling of serving others and spreading the gospel. He was a dedicated member of Englewood Baptist Church, where he never missed a service.

He loved praising the Lord and always looked for opportunities to share with others what Jesus did for him. He was truly a servant for the Lord, that will be greatly missed but never forgotten, for his life has just begun!
