Highly Anticipated Dog Park Coming to Tuscaloosa Gets License to Sell Beer
The Tuscaloosa City Council has granted an alcohol license for the soon-to-come and highly anticipated Good Dog Park and Bar, which is expected to open next month.
As previously reported, the owners at the dog park announced in October that they would open their third Alabama location in the Druid City. Clint Carmichael, a co-owner of Good Dog, grew up locally and said "Tuscaloosa needs a nice pet resort, especially by campus."
The dog park, which has existing locations in Birmingham and Auburn, planned to open its doors in December. Post from the business's Facebook indicated the facility is still under construction Monday. Carmichael said Tuesday night that they expect now to open in roughly a month.
The dog park will offer beer, wines and seltzers at the bar, with no plans of serving liquor.
The park will sit at 1706 16th Street, across 15th Street from Tuscaloosa's Annette Shelby Park. Entry to the park will be free and those wanting to visit the space are not required to have a pet to enter.
UPDATE: Clint Carmichael confirmed to the Tuscaloosa Thread the business is expected to open its doors on January 12.
