A specialty store on the banks of the Black Warrior River is permanently closed, but a brand-new ice cream parlor will soon open in its place.

As the Thread previously reported, the artisanal Domo market opened in the Shops At Riverwalk Place around this time last year, where a pair of local entrepreneurs aimed to sell high-quality and hard-to-find meats, seafood, cheeses and wines.

Domo permanently closed last month, but the same couple, Audrey and Paul Vermilyea, teased back then that a new concept would be coming soon to the same space.

That concept appears to be the Moonshot Creamery & Bottle Shop, which promised in an Instagram post to open very soon with more than a dozen flavors of ice cream for patrons to choose from.

The teaser says the creamy treats will be small-batch blends made with grass-fed milk alongside a couple of dairy-free options.

With a mix of traditional flavors and standouts including brittle & salt, caramelized banana and creme brulee, it appears the new ice cream parlor will have something for everyone.

Their budding social media pages also tease "an eclectic selection of low-intervention wines," which are made with as few artificial ingredients and human manipulation as possible.

The Vermilyeas already run Monarch Espresso Bar, the successful downtown coffee shop that opened in 2017 beloved for its always-changing menu and tasteful swag. If the aesthetic they're teasing for Moonshot Creamery is any indication, they're likely to have another hit on their hands.
