The dose was administered at DCH's new remote testing site at around 8:30 a.m. Thursday.

The physician, Dr. Blake Lovely, volunteered to receive one of the roughly 3,000 Pfizer COVID-19 vaccines granted to the hospital. DCH was one of the first facilities in the state to be able to give the vaccine.

The vaccine requires two doses, so Lovely and any other medical professional who received the treatment Thursday will now begin a 21-day waiting period before taking a second dose in January.
