Danny Lee Barnes, age 76, of Tuscaloosa, Alabama (formally from Ithaca, Michigan); passed away at his home on July 19, 2022.

Memorial Services will be held at Taylorville Baptist Church on July 23, 2022 at 2:00 pm with Pastor Curtis Kelly officiating. An additional Memorial service will be held in Michigan with burial taking place at New Haven Township Cemetery, Gratiot County, Michigan on a later date.

Dan was born in Carson City on September 26, 1945, to Hubert Graden and Mildred Doris (Barnhill) Barnes, Dan lived a large part of his life on the family farm in New Haven Township, having farmed for 14 years after graduating from Michigan State University. Dan and his wife Chris spent the last 28 years living in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, where he retired from Mercedes Benz US International.

Dan’s faith in Jesus Christ was a big part of his life with his life’s verse being Romans 12:1, 2. He was active in his local church wherever they lived. Dan was also a lung transplant recipient and would like to thank the donor’s family for the added years to his life. He would ask that everyone consider signing a donor pledge.

On September 9, 1966, Dan was united in marriage to Christine K Fraker, the daughter of Charles and Dorothy (Butler) Fraker. From this union came Stephen Lee & Lynne Renee (twins), Melinda Kay, and Timothy Joel. Stephen married Gina Hegle, Lynne married Kent Foster, Melinda married Timothy Pigott, and Timothy married Deanna Farmer.

He is survived by his wife and children plus 12 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Logan & Adrianna, Gabriel & Vernita, and Bailey Foster; Jacob & Maci, Aaron & Skylar, and Hannah Barnes; Emily, Alexander, Madison & Butler Newman and Levi Pigott; Paige and Gavin Barnes.

Great-grandchildren include Emmett & Kerrigan Foster; Alice, Aria and Hazel Barnes; Benjamin Foster

He is also survived by sisters Patricia Paul (Jack), Nancy Stearns (Patrick) and brother, William (Jill)Barnes.

He is proceeded in death by his mother, father and Sharon Merchant (Robert).
