A Walker County man died early Sunday morning in a single-vehicle accident outside Northport, according to Alabama State Troopers.

Sergeant Jeremy J. Burkett, a spokesperson for the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, said 53-year-old Orbert D. Odom was driving a 2012 Toyota Tundra which left the roadway and struck a ditch.

Burkett said Odom, who lived in Oakman, Alabama, was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the truck in the impact.

He was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident, which took place on Alabama Highway 69 about five miles north of Northport city limits.

Burkett said nothing further is available as Troopers with the ALEA Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.
