Rodney Bivens Jr. Resigns as Central Football Head Coach
Saturday morning, October 22nd, Central High School Football Coach Rodney Bivens announced his resignation as head football coach.
“Thank you to the Tuscaloosa City Schools and Central High School for allowing me the opportunity to serve my Alma Mater and community in the capacity of head football coach,” Bivens said in an exclusive statement made to 105.1 The Block.
“I have decided to step down as the head football coach at this time.”
Bivens has held the position of Head Football Coach for Central High School for the last three years after serving as an Offensive Coordinator for the team during the 2013 and 2014 seasons.
As a 2004 graduate of Central High School, Bivens expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to coach at his Alma Mater.
“It has always been my intention to help advance my Alma Mater’s football program, bring positive awareness to the school, and be a great representative of the school system.“
The Central High School Falcon Football team finished the 2022 season 2-5 within the region and an overall record of 2-8.
The Falcons finished the 2021 and 2020 seasons 2-4 in the region and 3-7 overall.
“Throughout my three years as the head football coach of Central High School, I have enjoyed the many lives that my family has impacted,” said Bivens in his statement announcing his resignation.

Throughout my three years as the head football coach of Central High School, I have enjoyed the many lives that my family has impacted. I am grateful to have been selected to lead our future generation both on and off the field of competition.
As a graduate of the Tuscaloosa City Schools and Central High School, I have tremendous pride and love for my Alma Mater. It has always been my intention to help advance my Alma Mater’s football program, bring positive awareness to the school, and be a great representative of the school system.
