Billy Marshall "Marty" Wheat, Jr. , age 54 of Moundville, passed away March 22, 2023 at home.

A graveside service will be held on Monday, March 27, 2023 at 10:00 am at Oak Hill Cemetery with Bro. Ray Grantham officiating and Magnolia Chapel South directing.

Marty is preceded in death by his father; Billy Wheat, Sr., and his stepfather; Daniel Cummings.

Survivors include his wife Dede Rainey Wheat, daughters; Presleigh Wheat and Nicole Wheat, mother; Retta Cummings and stepmother; Linda Wheat.

Marty was a 1987 graduate of Hale County High School. He worked in retail, industry and for the State of Alabama. His favorite was working at the town local Havana Junction, there he met many customers who he got to know and love.

Marty also served as the Moundville Volunteer Fire Department Auxillery President.
With his children Presleigh and Nicole and wife Dede, he cooked and raised money from fundraisers for equipment and many needed supplies for the department.

Marty was a member of Springhill Church and it's brotherhood. He loved his church, its members, and was steadfast in his faith. His walk with his Lord was evident as he began his year long battle with pancreatic cancer.

Marty loved his family and his girls. He was a leader, teacher and prayed daily that Presleigh and Nicole loved their Lord and developed a relationship with him. He missed his dad and longed for the day he would be reunited with him and his heavenly family. While knowing he would leave his earthly family which he loved so dearly. He loved his mom and now she will have the greatest guardian angel she could have next to her husband Daniel, whom Marty has joined in Heaven.

Pallbearers will be Mark Dockery, Jan Lake, Bert Baxter, Tony Lee, Graceon Rios, and Dakota Baxter.

Honorary pallbearers are Dr. Hinton and staff, and DCH Manderson Center, Dr. Gross and his office staff, Moundville Volunteer Fire Department, Dr. Neil Shah and office staff, Co-workers at The Havana Junction Grocery, Fayette DCH Respiratory Department, and DCH Respiratory Department, friends at The Bank of Moundville, and Hospice of West Alabama.
