Josephine Ann Powell Brewer (April 1st, 1945 – March 20th, 2023)

Josephine Ann Powell Brewer passed away peacefully at Hospice of West Alabama on March 20, 2023.

She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Jack, her son Jason, her daughter Joanna (Joe) Dyer, granddaughters Bentley and Baileigh Dyer, grandson Parker Dyer, and sister Polly Moore.

Jo was born on April 1, 1945, in Meridian, Mississippi, to Holmes and Mary LeBourhis Powell. After losing her mother at a young age, she was adopted by her aunt, Thelma Powell Burroughs, and spent the rest of her life in Romulus, Alabama. Jo married Jack on August 28, 1963.

She is preceded in death by her parents, sister Mary Boyette, and brothers Walter and Earl.

The funeral service will be at 11:00am at New Hope Baptist Church in Romulus with graveside services following. Visitation will be at the church one hour prior to the service

Pallbearers will be Randy Burns, Joe Burroughs, Leslie Burroughs, John Clayton, Maurice Costes, Danny Kelley, Dick Leavelle, and Curtis Shirley.

The family would like to thank all of the wonderful nurses, caregivers, staff, and volunteers at Hospice of West Alabama who cared for Jo through her long illness. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Hospice of West Alabama or to New Hope Baptist Church.
