Billy Guin, age 81, of Northport, Alabama, passed away on May 1, 2022 at DCH Regional Medical Center.

Services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 7, 2022, at Mt. Hebron Baptist Church with Rev. Scott Montgomery and Rev. Glen Kennedy officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Hebron Baptist Church Cemetery with Magnolia Chapel North directing.

Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 7, 2022 at the church.

He was preceded in death by his father, Joel Buford "J.B." Guin, Jr.; mother, Ettie Idona "Punk" Guin; nephew, Jimmy Jason Guin; and brother-in-law, Ben Walker.

Survivors include daughter, Stacy Guin Coats (Kendall), Northport, Alabama; granddaughter, Anna Coats Redd (Canaan), Yuma, Arizona; grandson, Robert Raymond Coats (Alicia), Fort Stewart, Georgia; sister, Betty Walker, Dallas, Georgia; brothers, Jimmy Guin (Charlotte), Morris Guin (Mary Ellen), and Terry Guin (Teresa), all of Northport, Alabama; along with many nieces and nephews.

Billy retired from the United States Postal Service with over 30 years of service, working as a city letter carrier and later over vehicle maintenance.

He enjoyed hunting and fishing and spent much time on the Sipsey River and Big Prairie Creek at Lock 5 off the Black Warrior River. He enjoyed gardening, playing bluegrass guitar with his bluegrass musician friends, and listening to bluegrass music.

He was devoted to his daughter and grandchildren, and passed on to them his love of hunting, fishing, and bluegrass music.

Pallbearers will be Jesse Malone, Mark Guin, Russ Guin, Alex Guin, Jack Montgomery and Michael Thomas.

Honorary pallbearers are grandchildren, Anna Redd and Robert Coats.
