Tuscaloosa Police’s New Charger Turns Heads Around Town
A striking new patrol car turned heads around Tuscaloosa this week, and it has an unusual backstory: it started out as evidence in a crime.
The black-and-white Dodge Charger, wrapped in a dramatic black and white design featuring the face of Chief Tuskaloosa, came to the Tuscaloosa Police Department through a switched-VIN case, according to a Facebook post from the department.
Rather than sit in an evidence lot, TPD redecorated the vehicle for use around town with its Police Athletic League.
"Some of you spotted this Charger out on its first trip around town today, so here's the story," the department wrote. "It came to TPD through a switched-VIN case, and we've given it a second life with our Police Athletic League."
The department said the Charger will make appearances at PAL functions and other community events around Tuscaloosa, including a car show at Spades on August 29.
