The Alabama Crimson Tide (16-12) lost its midweek contest to the Louisiana Monroe Warhawks (11-14) 5-3. Alabama has now lost nine of its last 10 outings after defeating then No. 1 Arkansas on the road.

Alabama freshman pitcher Grayson Hitt made his first career start for the Crimson Tide and unfortunately took the loss after pitching 2.2 and giving up three runs off four hits while also recording two strikeouts and issuing one walk and one hit batter. Hitt allowed two, 2-out, Warhawk base-runners in the first inning and junior first baseman Danny Desimone took the freshman deep for a three-run homerun.

It didn't take the Tide long to respond as the home team put up two runs in the third inning to pull within one run. Sophomores Jim Jarvis got aboard via hit-by-pitch, Peyton Wilson singled and William Hamiter sac-flied to get Bama on the board. Sophomore Zane Denton subsequently doubled bringing in Wilson before the Warhawks got out of the inning without further damage.

Both offenses would be stymied until Louisiana Monroe broke through with two more runs in the eighth inning. Ryan Humeniuk and Desimone got aboard courtesy of two Bryce Eblin walks. The Warhawks took advantage of the extra at-bats by way of a Michael Cervantes 2-out, 2-RBI single to increase the Warhawk lead to 5-2.

The Tide did not fold easily, responding in the ninth inning with one more run on a Denton single. Alabama, however, could not keep its rally going and ultimately fell to the visiting Warhawks.

"I feel like offensively, we're young and we try to ease into the game and don't have the same level of focus in the first and the fourth that we do in the eighth and the ninth. I don't need to see any stats to know that the quality of our at-bats in the eighth and the ninth inning is like way better than all the other innings," said Alabama head coach Brad Bohannon.

ULM's relief pitcher Trey Lindsay picked up the win for his three innings pitched, he struck out two batters and only allowed one hit and no runs. For the Crimson Tide Jacob McNairy had the best outing pitching 1.2 innings, striking out three while only allowing one hit.

The struggling-Tide now goes on the road for a crucial conference matchup with the Texas A&M Aggies. Alabama will pit its 2-7 conference record against Texas A&M's 3-6 conference effort. In a league as tough as the SEC is in baseball it will be imperative for Alabama to perform well against other struggling teams.
