In its fourth game in five days, the Alabama Crimson Tide is alive in the early stretch of the new season. Bama beat the Jacksonville State Gamecocks 6-3, marking another tally to the winning column as the Tide is undefeated to start its young 2022 season.

Alabama had a total batting average of .281 and had a .563 in advancement opportunities. The offensive side had a strong start to the game scoring in each of the first four innings. The Crimson Tide also had six runners advanced in the entirety of the game.

The defensive side was equally as impressive as the constant pinging of bats. Alabama had five double plays, three of which were snared by Jacob McNairy. The Tide also had a strike percentage of 67.6.

“I have been very confident in the defense since day one and have probably patted them on the back and bragged a little too much about it but I’m not surprised. I expect us to go out and play well at high-level defense this year.” head coach Brad Bohannon said after the game.

Wednesday's afternoon contest against Alabama State has the potential of being rained out. IF the game does take place, it'll be at 3 p.m. at Sewell-Thomas Stadium.

In the meantime, Alabama's focus turns to this weekend's series as the Crimson Tide travels to take on No.1 Texas.

“I’m excited to see how we respond to that environment and get punched in the mouth a little bit," Bohannon said. "Whether we go out there and win 3, or lose 3, you could go to the college world series or not even get to the postseason depending on which way it goes.

“We need to play really, really good teams so we can really see what we need to work on. Regardless on how the games go, it will be really beneficial for us and I think we can play high-level baseball and really compete and see how it plays out.”

The games against Texas will be broadcasted on ESPN on Friday at 7 p.m., Saturday at 1:30 p.m., and Sunday at 2:30 p.m.
