Bama Baseball Alters Schedule Due To Weather
The Alabama Crimson Tide is in its second week of the 2021 schedule and has started off well, tallying a record of 5-1 thus far. Alabama kicked off its weekend series with a win over Wright State today 8-4.
The Crimson Tide and the Raiders agreed to move their scheduled Sunday matchup to Saturday to play a double-header and ensure all three games of the series get played. Sunday's forecast calls for thunderstorms throughout the day with the rain getting heavier as the day progresses.
The teams will now open up play on Saturday at 1 p.m., one hour earlier that previously scheduled, and will play the second game roughly 30 minutes after the first concludes. The second game will only be a seven inning affair but the first will be played to a complete nine innings.
Fans who have tickets for Sunday's game will have their tickets honored for both games on Saturday, however the Saturday ticketholders will have seating priority for the first game. Students who have tickets for Saturday's game will be honored for both games however students who have Sunday tickets will not be honored at the gate.
Alabama is led offensively so far this year by sophomore infielder Zane Denton. Denton has a .455 batting average with three homeruns and six RBIs. Sophomore, outfielder Owen Diodati is helping carry the weigh at the dish, batting .350 this season with two homeruns and six RBIs.
