Alton was a 1971 graduate of Northside High School. After high school, he joined the U.S. Marine Corps and was honorably discharged in 1974. Later, returning to Moores Bridge, he earned a degree in Automotive and Diesel Mechanics from Shelton State. He began his career at BF Goodrich Tire Manufacturing plant where he would retire. He commonly referred to himself and two things, nostalgic and diversified. Most that came to know him knew him as a hard worker. Cancer didn't even slow him down; he worked till his last day on the farm. He was proud of his strong roots in farming, which helped to provide for his family and community through row cropping, raising cattle, and gardening. He prided himself on his Farmall tractor collection that he continued restoring till his last day. Phil made the mistake of showing him Facebook Marketplace which landed him, Phil, Todd, & Tyler on many-mile long adventures purchasing farm equipment. He was loved and will be missed by many.

Pallbearers will be Phil Crim, Tyler Crim, Todd Crim, Jon-Paul Zeitouni, Eric Strickland, and Jamie Oswalt.

Honorary pallbearers are Alabama Cancer Care of Tuscaloosa and doctors; Dr. Gene Alldredge, Dr. Anne Lewis, Moores Bridge Baptist Church and community, Sardis Free Will Baptist Church, Cronin and Vanessa Davis and Danny Anders.
