A teenage driver died Thursday night in west Alabama in a single-vehicle crash outside Demopolis, State Troopers said Friday.

Corporal Reginal King, a spokesperson for the Troopers in west Alabama, said the 18-year-old was driving a 2014 Nissan Maxima that left the roadway and struck a tree on Marengo County Road 21 Thursday night.

King said the driver, who Troopers only identified as a Thomaston juvenile, was not wearing a seatbelt and did not survive the collision.

They were pronounced dead at the scene of the wreck, which King said happened around 11:30 p.m. Thursday about three miles south of Demopolis.

Nothing other information was available Friday and King said Troopers with the ALEA's Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate the deadly accident.
