A new drive-through coffee stand is almost open on Tuscaloosa's Skyland Boulevard, not far from the soon-to-be-revitalized McFarland Mall property.

The city's first 7 Brew opened on 15th Street last year, and if the daily lines at their two-lane drive-through are any indication, demand for their coffees, teas and energy drinks is still extremely high.

As the Thread reported in February, the fast-growing company has decided to build on its early success and open a second store, this time in front of the now-closed Dirt Cheap store on Skyland Boulevard.

The new coffee stand is finished and will open to the public this Monday, June 9th. Some offices and businesses in the area have already been treated to a preview of the brand's most popular drinks as they prepare to open.

Tuscaloosa City Councilman Cassius Lanier, who represents District 7 where the business has been built, said he's excited to see the 7 Brew get open and believes it will be the first of many announcements coming very soon to the Skyland area, including fresh news about Stan Pate's ambitious revitalization of the former McFarland Mall property.

Pate has been given the largest tax incentive of its kind in city history to get the job done, and Lanier said the great revelation of what's coming next is not far off.

"This 7 Brew is a teaser of what's going on in District 7. We are definitely committed to growing economically on that strip of Skyland at McFarland and there are big plans for that corridor," Lanier told the Thread. "Here we grow again. I'm excited, but I promise you it's not the last of it. What's about to happen on McFarland is gonna change not just McFarland, it's going to transform this region."
