2 Men Shot Outside Tuscaloosa in Cottondale Saturday, Injuries Serious
Two people were injured in a Saturday afternoon shooting in Cottondale in Tuscaloosa County, police have confirmed.
Captain Marty Sellers, the co-commander of the Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit, said the VCU is investigating a double shooting in which two males were shot. At least one of them has suffered serious injuries, Sellers said.

In an update, VCU Commander Jack Kennedy said around 7 o'clock, Tuscaloosa County Sheriff's deputies were called to the 6000 block of Cold Springs Road, where a 53-year-old male and a 39-year-old male had been shot.
The men were taken to the hospital and are expected to survive.
Kennedy said the men who were shot had confronted a driver who was behind the wheel of one of several vehicles driving recklessly in the area. Their alleged instigation of the conflict has raised issues of self-defense and no charges have been filed at this time. Still, Kennedy said the investigation is ongoing, and charges are possible in the future.
The VCU is also asking for witnesses to the shooting or who has any information about it to contact them at 205-464-8690.
The double shooting follows an unrelated early morning homicide on the west side of town in which a man was fatally shot - the VCU has not yet released updates about that case.
