The vehicle reportedly struck two embankments, overturned and came to rest in a creek, but police say the Dodge caught fire after the impacts and became completely engulfed in flames.

Mealer, who lived in West Blocton, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.

Troopers say the wreck took place a few minutes before 8 a.m. Thursday roughly three miles north of Brent, Alabama.

The Troopers' Highway Patrol Division continues to investigate the deadly accident, and no further details were available Friday morning.
