A Northport man was arrested Thursday night after he allegedly stabbed a woman in the back three times during a domestic dispute at Forest Lake Apartments in Tuscaloosa.

Stephanie Taylor, a spokeswoman for the Tuscaloosa Police Department, said investigators believe 27-year-old Keierrik Donnel Toney became involved in a fight that involved several people at the apartment complex shortly after 7 o'clock Thursday night.

The victim of the stabbing, a 22-year-old woman, said she and Toney had gotten into a physical fight in Northport earlier Thursday.

Toney and another woman allegedly drove to Forest Lake Apartments where the victim lived Thursday night.

Toney allegedly pulled a knife and charged at another woman there when the first woman he'd fought with that day yelled at him to stop and used pepper spray to try to incapacitate Toney and the woman who accompanied him to the apartments.

The woman who was hit with the pepper spray began fighting with the victim, and Toney allegedly approached and stabbed the 22-year-old woman three times in the back before fleeing the scene.

After TPD investigators identified Toney as a suspect, Northport Police officers were able to arrest him at his home across the river Thursday night.

The victim was taken to DCH Regional Medical Center and treated for injuries that Taylor said were not life-threatening.

Toney has been charged with second-degree domestic violence assault and remained in the Tuscaloosa County Jail Friday morning on a $30,000 bond.
