The latest data from the Alabama Department of Public Health shows confirmed cases of COVID-19 continue to spread within West Alabama classrooms.

Tuscaloosa County Schools reported 306 confirmed cases of the virus last week, down from the previous week's 481. The system does not currently have a mask mandate in place.

Tuscaloosa City Schools reported 155 cases up from the previous week's 132. TCS recently voted to extend its mask mandate through October 6. The system hit a grim milestone this week, exceeding the total number of cases reported in 2020-2021 in just three weeks of in-person instruction.
