Community Mourns As Details Emerge In Jonathan Boley’s Death
Walker County Coroner Joey Vick has released the probable cause of death for 4-year-old Jonathan Boley as hypothermia. The probable cause follows an initial autopsy that did not find any trauma or assault type injuries on the body of the child found last Friday after an extensive search.
Vick points out the results are still preliminary and could change when the final forensics report is issued sometime next week.

Jon Jon, as the boy was called, went missing on New Year's Eve morning. His disappearance sparked a massive search of the area just north of Jasper by first responders and community volunteers.
One of those volunteers found young Boley's body in a stream in woods adjacent to his father's house. He was known as being adventurous and had last been seen by his six-year-old brother Issac with their dog Buck near the property fence line adjacent to the wooded area.
The boy's parents are separated, and they had traveled from their mother's house to be with their father for the holidays.
The father is in jail facing charges separate from the missing child case after searchers found explosives and drugs in his house.
A family visitation is set for tomorrow (Friday) from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Collins-Burke Funeral Home in Jasper. Funeral services will be Saturday at 11:30 a.m. at Camp McDowell.
