VCU: Man Injured in Car-to-Car Shooting on I-20/59 Near Tuscaloosa Mercedes Plant
A man was wounded Tuesday evening in a car-to-car shooting on Interstate 20/59 near the Mercedes plant in Tuscaloosa.
Stepahnie Taylor, a spokesperson for the Tuscaloosa Police Department said a 30-year-old man called police about 10 minutes before 6 p.m. Tuesday and reported he had been shot.
Taylor said the victim was driving east on the interstate when another drive fired a bullet through his passenger window.
The victim's injury is not life-threatening, Taylor said.
Captain Jack Kennedy, the commander of the Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit, said the VCU is taking over the case. He said although the shooting occurred near the Mercedes plant, it happened on the interstate and not at the plant.
