A Tuesday morning fire inside a Mercedes Benz U.S. International warehouse in Bibb County has been extinguished and no one was hurt in the incident.

Holly Whigham, a spokesperson for the Tuscaloosa Fire Rescue Service, said TFR and local volunteer firefighters were called to MBUSI property in Woodstock after a fire broke out in the North American Central Warehouse on their campus there shortly before 10:30 Tuesday morning.

Original reports, including those published on the Thread, imprecisely said the fire was inside MBUSI's battery plant in Woodstock, but the manufacturing facility itself was not involved, only the MBUSI warehouse also housed in Bibb County's Scott Davis Industrial Park.

The fire was partially controlled by a sprinkler system inside the warehouse, and first responders were eventually able to get inside the building and extinguish the flames.

Whigham said all told, 50 firefighters participated in the operation, including several from the Green Pond volunteer fire department there in Bibb County.

With the fire extinguished, the work on site has shifted to removing everything that was damaged by fire or water out of the building.

Whigham said the cause of the fire is still under investigation, and no injuries have been reported as of 1:30 p.m.
