Louisiana Country Music Hall-of-Famer Sammy Kershaw will play a live concert at The University of West Alabama this Friday night at 7:30 p.m. General admissions tickets are selling for $35 and the proceeds from ticket sales will go towards renovating UWA’s Tiger Stadium.

The live country music event will be held at UWA’s Student Union Building lawn, so concertgoers are encouraged to bring along their own chairs or blankets for comfortable seating arrangements.

On top of his Hall of Fame status, Kershaw is a multi-platinum-record-selling country music artist. With number one hits like “Love of My Life” and “She Don’t Know She’s Beautiful,” his song sales total more than 70 million.

Kershaw is not the first artist to perform at UWA, nor will he be the last. Artists like Olivia-Newton John, Barry Manilow, Hank Williams Jr., Ike and Tina Turner, Lee Greenwood, Melissa Manchester, Merle Haggard, Sister Sledge, the Ohio Players, Cheap Trick, Sawyer Brown, Mac Davis, Bad English, and Georgia Satellites have set the stage for Kershaw’s performance.

UWA said they hope Kershaw’s concert will encourage other artists to continue to stop by their campus for their annual back-to-campus concert. His distinctive sound keeps crowds from across the Black Belt region coming back for more every year.
