University of Alabama Dining Halls Switch to Grab-and-Go Only
All dining facilities on the campus of the University of Alabama are transitioning to grab-and-go options only, according to a Monday update from UA officials.
In an announcement on healthinfo.ua.edu, where students, faculty and staff can stay up to date with new information about COVID-19 on campus and the changes necessitated by the pandemic, students were notified that in-person dining will be suspended on campus until further notice.
"All campus dining facilities are transitioning to grab-and-go only options until further notice," the update said. "All dining facilities will remain open to serve our students, but no in-person dining will be permitted at this time. This decision has been made in the continued interest of health and safety and will be reevaluated as the semester progresses."
University of Alabama freshmen are required to spend more than $2,000 a semester on a meal plan that grants them access to all-you-can-eat buffets at dining halls across campus. Upperclassmen are allowed to choose to go without or pick between several options that range from $1,014 per semester to $2,056.
