A new community bank is open in the heart of downtown Tuscaloosa, where leaders gathered for a ribbon-cutting ceremony Wednesday afternoon.

CB&S Bank, a $2.6 billion financial institution headquartered in Russellville, Alabama, has done extensive work to renovate and move into their new home on University Boulevard next door to City Hall.

The location is one of the bank's more than 50 across Alabama, Tennessee and Mississippi.

On Wednesday, dignitaries including University of Alabama President Stuart Bell, Tuscaloosa Mayor Walt Maddox and CB&S Bank President & CEO Mike Ross were on site to celebrate the transformation of the building and the bank's grand opening downtown.

In a press release distributed before the event, the bank said this new, two-story downtown location is "a full-service retail and commercial bank able to serve all your banking needs,"  also including treasury management, mortgage services, and financial services.

"What an asset this is in our downtown," said Kyle South, the President & CEO of the Chamber of Commerce of West Alabama. "The more of these opportunities we have, the better we are as a community."

personal and business needs," They said in their release. "We are committed to investing in the communities we serve and we look forward to continued growth in the Tuscaloosa market. If you are looking for a new bank home, we look forward to welcoming you to CB&S Bank."
