The University of Alabama is polling students, faculty, and community members on what they'd like to see in hypothetical renovations to its picturesque Quad. Anyone interested can now fill out an online survey and comment on any specific areas of improvement they think would improve the campus's largest green space.

"The Quad is one of UA’s most iconic and beloved parts of campus," the University said through a spokesperson. "We want to be sure the Quad continues to meet the needs of campus while maintaining its character and tradition. As a first step, we’re seeking input from our campus stakeholders through a survey to help meet those needs, which could range from improving physical accessibility to upgrading WiFi to developing outdoor classrooms"

The University said no concrete plans have been finalized and no timetable or budget has been set, but the survey hints at what may be to come, including:

  • Improved Wi-Fi coverage
  • More seating / casual meeting spaces
  • More hardscape / plaza spaces
  • Improved game day infrastructure
  • Sidewalk improvements
  • Upgrades to street crossings

The survey also includes several interactive maps where people can indicate their favorite places to gather on game days, to study or partake in other outdoor activities.
