The Hale County Sheriff's Office is investigating after two people in Greensboro were shot in their own yard Tuesday night, according to a press release.

In a post on the department's Facebook, the Sheriff's Office said they were called to a residence on County Road 7 around 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, where they discovered a 32-year-old man and a 67-year-old woman who had both been shot.

The victims told police that "an unidentified black man" approached them in their yard Tuesday night and said he was going to shoot them before opening fire.

The man was hit multiple times in his leg, and the woman was shot one time in her side. Both victims were taken to DCH Regional Medical Center in Tuscaloosa for treatment.
