A new fundraiser festival will bring music, comedy, art, animals and more to Tuscaloosa this weekend in memory of a DCH nurse who died in November.

The first-ever "AshFest" will be held at the new and improved Druid City Brewing Co. taproom on 15th Street from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m.

The event is being organized by Tuscaloosa's Jimmy Mixon in memory of his late wife Ashley Mixon who was a second-career nurse. Mixon has endowed a scholarship for second-career nurses like his late wife through the UA National Alumni Association.

.A $10 donation to the memorial scholarship grants access to some or all of Saturday's six-hour family-friendly festival that features Ashley's favorite things - stand-up comedy, live music, animals and more.

Local performers include Warner Johnson, Haunted Housecat, the 603 Band, Big Vic and the Convicts and Clockwork.

Comedy acts will include Sydney Hardern and Caleb Garrett.

Food will be available from DCBC's new Ell's Kitchen.

Local artists and others will also be on-site, as will the Tuscaloosa Metro Animal Shelter with adoptable pets to meet.
