According to reporting from WMC Action News in Memphis, Tennessee, the used car company "abruptly ceased all its business and operations" last Friday.

More than 300 employees at the company headquarters in Memphis reportedly found out with no notice that they would all lose their jobs.

They operated more than 40 dealerships across the southeast and eight locations in Alabama cities including Tuscaloosa, Birmingham, Huntsville and Mobile.

The American Car Center's website said customers should continue to make car payments per the terms of their agreements online or via phone.
